- Identify possible role directions.
- Mark each direction as strong, adjacent, stretch, or unsupported.
- Connect each direction to actual episodes, evidence, and claims.
- Do not claim a direction only because it sounds appealing.
- Identify what evidence would strengthen the hypothesis.
